Wild Roots in the Park Identification & Forage Tour by Saratoga Wild Roots and Friends of Fort Hardy Park

Learn to identify early Spring plants and mushrooms & how to harvest them responsibility on-site.

Registration is required! Small registration fee of $5/person is due on the day of the event.

During this session of Wild Roots in the Park Program, participants will take a walking tour through Fort Hardy Park with certified foragers from Saratoga Wild Roots.

Learn about the benefits of foraging how to identify early Spring plants and mushrooms using identification guides, baskets/bags, and trimmers as we connect to nature, explore biodiversity, and discover how to harvest responsibility from a public park environment.

  • Approximately 1.5 hours long

  • Group size is limited to 12 participants

  • All ages are welcome, but this session is best suited for ages 10 and up

  • Children must be accompanied by an adult

  • $5/person due on day of the event

Join us for engaging nature-based activities that encourage community wellness, connection, and environmental stewardship

  • Attendees will meet at the Old Visitor Center Parking Lot (beside the white and blue building across from the Champlain Canal Visitor Center, 33 Ferry Street, Schuylerville, NY 12871

  • Directions to the park can be found HERE

  • Please bring personal water bottles. A restroom is available onsite by the Schuylerville Village Beach, 3 Ferry Street, Schuylerville

  • We will be walking on grassy and gravel surfaces. Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing
