A Little Bit About Us
Friends of Fort Hardy Park is a volunteer group headquartered in Schuylerville, NY with members from the village of Schuylerville and surrounding communities.
The Friends of Fort Hardy Park’s mission is:
To support and unify the community by creating and offering spaces that foster cultural growth through activities and events.
To protect, preserve, and promote the historical, recreational, and natural features of the park through educational opportunities, unique programs, and community volunteer involvement.
To encourage future generations to learn, support, and thrive for years to come.
A Little Bit About Fort Hardy Park
Fort Hardy Park is a necessary piece of a larger green corridor within the village of Schuylerville, NY, and maintained by the municipality.
Of historical importance, during the Battles of Saratoga, the Turning Point of the Revolutionary War, this area was designated “The Field of Grounded Arms”. Because it is in a Hudson River floodplain, environmental stewardship of this natural resource will be critical now and in the future.
The Hudson River Water Rise Report indicates the river’s water level has risen one foot in the past 100 years. It is projected that within the next 100 years, the Hudson River will rise an average of six feet spanning its length.
Because of its unique location, no other local park has this specific set of environmental challenges and resulting urgency to preserve its historical significance.
Honors & Awards
Honors & Awards
Friends of Fort Hardy Park is thrilled to share that we have been awarded a grant from the Common Roots Foundation. This funding will support Wild Roots in the Park, a yearlong series of six hands-on nature and wellness workshops led by Saratoga Wild Roots.
Thanks to this support, we’ll be able to offer accessible, outdoor programming that strengthens community connection, promotes environmental stewardship, and enriches the park experience for residents of Saratoga and Washington Counties. We’re grateful to the Common Roots Foundation for investing in local communities and helping us grow meaningful programming at Fort Hardy Park.
